God’s Word

Jennie Wilson and F. L. Eiland wrote in the song, Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand, “Time is filled with swift transition, Naught of earth unmoved can stand, Build your hopes on things eternal…” Tragically, today’s culture encourages us to live for the day, grab all the gusto you can, etc. But with so much constantly changing, there is something we can use as ‘True North’ on our life compass – The Word of God.

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NIV)
24 For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord stands forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

Describe yourself in 6 words.

After a life of doing “everything he was big enough to do”, Solomon in Ecclesiastes summarizes the whole duty of man this way,

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (KJV)

13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Check out the six highlighted words, Fear God, and keep his commandments. How would you describe yourself in six words considering all you are and know?

My six words, Called to serve, Determined to achieve! Share with me your six words.

May God bless you to live in abundance and humility at the same time.

The Power of Consistent Prayer

Don’t let your prayer life be like New Year’s resolutions. January 1st, we’re on fire; by February 1, we don’t even remember what we had committed to do. God honors sincere and committed prayer.

Luke 11:9-10 (HCSB)
9 “So I say to you, keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Where is your faith?

Faith makes what is unseen come alive and makes what is impossible come true. Use the faith God gave you.

Someone has said “Little prayer, little power; much prayer, much power; no prayer, no power.”

Matthew 17:19-20 (NIV)
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Finishing Well

Many of us get started on a project and long before it comes to completion we get discouraged and give up. We need to count the cost on keep on pushing until we achieve.

What helps you to succeed is to being certain that you’re doing what is right and it’s what God wants you to dojust a thought!

Luke 14:28-30 (NIV)
28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?
29 For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him,
30 saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’

Universal Sin

Tilton definition: “Sin – doing things your way instead of God’s way”.

Everyone is  a sinner by that definition and in need of redemption. Indeed no one measures up to God’s righteousness. Christ  alone makes us worthy. Hallelujah!

Romans 3:22-24 (NIV)
22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Jesus has PAID THE PRICE

John 14:12 (NIV)
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Jesus has PAID THE PRICE – if you follow the Holy Spirit’s leadership, He will give you the authority and the ability extraordinary works.

The HIM-ness of Salvation

Adam’s sin brought death to the human race. Jesus, our Christ, died to cover a multitude of sins. No matter how great the sin, His grace is greater. Receive His free gift, by faith, TODAY! It’s because of HIM not you!

Romans 5:18-20 (NIV)
18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.
19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,

Keep Pressing

Keep Pressing – the goal is worth it!

Philippians 3:14 (NIV)

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
